Terrorist attack in Nice, France.

On Thursday, France reported a suspected terrorist attack in Nice, Southern France. It is believed that the aggressor, who shouted ‘Allah hu Akbar’ entered the Notre-Dame Basilica, where he slaughtered two people and injured several others. A third person that was severely injured, took refuge in a bar close-by , where he died shortly afterwards. The attack comes while France was still recovering from the beheading of a teacher earlier this month, for showing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed to pupils.

Police quickly intervened and shot and than arrested the suspect. The injured individuals have been taken to the hospital, and so far, there are no details regarding the severity of those injured. The terror attack in Nice brings back painful memories for the people in Nice, where they suffered several terrorist attacks in recent years.

President Macron will head to Nice, after he had a government crisis meeting on Thursday morning. The anti-terrorist department launched an investigation, which will be carried out internal security teams and judicial police. The Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi blames ‘Islamo-fascism’,

Enough is enough, it is now for France to exempt itself from laws on peace to wipe out Islamo-fascism once and for all from our territory.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her ‘deep shock’ over the brutal attack on innocent citizens and she expressed her solidarity with France. The European Council head Charles Michel, European Parliament President David Sassoli and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also sent messages of support to France. Britain and Turkey also condemned the barbaric attack and said that they stand in solidarity with France.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that the government will raise the attack alert level to ‘urgent’, in response to the attack.
