A 6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes China.

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake just struck Linxia Huizu Zizhizhou, 41 km west of Linxia Chengguanzhen, Gansu, China, on Monday, Dec 18, 2023 11:59 pm (Shanghai time) at a shallow depth of 9.6km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

The earthquake was felt as light shaking in Linxia Chengguanzhen (pop. 202,400) located 46 km from the epicenter, Labran (pop. 23,000) 68 km away, Lanzhou (pop. 2,628,400) 103 km away, and Xining (pop. 767,500) 129 km away.
