5.7-magnitude earthquake strikes central Turkey.

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake just struck Turkey at 6.11pm Istanbul time at a depth of 35km. The epicenter of the quake was 37km south of Turhal, Tokat, Turkey.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

It was felt in Artova (pop. 6,200) located 18 km from the epicenter, Zile (pop. 55,700) 27 km away, Turhal (pop. 110,900) 30 km away, and Provincia de Tokat (pop. 129,700) 45 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Erbaa (pop. 52,200) located 74 km from the epicenter, Yesilova (pop. 62,900) 84 km away, Sivas (pop. 264,000) 89 km away, and Niksar (pop. 49,900) 90 km away.
