5.9-magnitude earthquake in Turkey.

Moments ago a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck 47 km east of Malatya, Malatya, Turkey at a shallow depth of 10km. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the eartquake occurred at 10.46am local time.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologis1ts review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Moderate shaking probably occurred in Doğanyol (pop. 6,300) located 15 km from the epicenter, and Baskil (pop. 15,900) 27 km away.
In Malatya (pop. 441,800) located 47 km from the epicenter, Çermik (pop. 21,000) 56 km away, Kâhta (pop. 73,100) 64 km away, Siverek (pop. 175,300) 75 km away, Ergani (pop. 52,700) 78 km away, and Antigiaman (pop. 223,700) 81 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
