The seismological agency, EMSC , reported a 5.7-magnitude earthquake 47km west of Ipil, Philippines at a shallow depth of 35km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologis1ts review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Even though the earthquake is considered a strong one, it should not have caused any significant damage. The earthquake was felt in Tigpalay (pop. 5,500) located 38 km from the epicenter, Titay (pop. 11,500) 42 km away, Vitali (pop. 9,700) 47 km away, and Ipil (pop. 19,200) 47 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Recodo (pop. 42,800) located 94 km from the epicenter, Zamboanga (pop. 457,600) 97 km away, Pagadian City (pop. 186,900) 141 km away, and Pagadian City (pop. 186,900) 141 km away.
