UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy arrived in Islamabad today for high-stakes discussions with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, marking a critical diplomatic engagement amid heightened regional tensions following recent clashes between Pakistan and India. The meeting will focus on strengthening bilateral ties, advancing regional stability, and addressing the fallout from the recent military escalation in Kashmir.
Today’s meeting follows a series of diplomatic engagements, including a May 12 phone call where Lammy and Dar discussed post-ceasefire stability, and an April 28 conversation addressing India’s airstrikes. The UK’s proactive role aligns with broader international efforts, including recent mediation attempts by Saudi Arabia and Iran.
