5.8-magnitude earthquake in Taiwan.

Taiwan was struck by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake at 3.45pm Taipei time. The epicenter of the quake was 38 km NE of Hualien City, Taiwan. The quake had a very shallow depth of 10.8km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Moderate shaking probably occurred in Hualien City (pop. 350,500) located 34 km from the epicenter.
In Yilan (pop. 94,200) located 66 km from the epicenter, Puli (pop. 86,400) 94 km away, Daxi (pop. 84,500) 98 km away, Banciao (pop. 543,300) 102 km away, Bade (pop. 209,100) 103 km away, Taipei (pop. 7,871,900) 103 km away, Keelung (pop. 397,500) 107 km away, and Taoyuan City (pop. 402,000) 108 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
