According to footage widely shared online, an explosion has just occured at the Montazere Ghaem power plant in the city of Karaj, Iran. The power plant is just 8km west of Tehran. There are numerous reports that Iranian’s air defense systems were activated and several tremors were also felt.

The facility is one of Iran’s largest power plant with a capacity of 1,600 megawatts.
