A strong earthquake has just struck the Philippines. Based on local sources, a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck Central Visayas, 298 km north of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, Sep 30, 2025 01:59 pm.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

The shaking was significant enough to send people rushing out of homes and buildings in Cebu City and nearby towns. Local authorities and news outlets reported strong aftershocks and precautionary measures being activated, especially in multi-story structures and coastal settlements.

While there is no immediate confirmation of casualties or major infrastructural collapses, emergency responders have begun rapid assessments of damage and the possible need for rescue efforts. Electricity and communication disruptions were reported in heavily impacted areas as a result of the quake.
