US embassy in Baghdad attacked by rockets.

A United States Embassy in Baghdad was attacked by rockets. The embassy was attacked by militias known to be supported by Iran. One Iraqi civilian was killed in the attack. The embassy was damaged as a result of the rocket attack.
On Sunday, it was reported that a total of eight rockets were launched by the militias targeting the international zone according to secretary of state Mike Pompeo.

There were no injuries to embassy personnel, but there was damage to residential property in the green zone, and also to the embassy. During the attack the embassy utilized its missile defense system, which managed to shoot down the rockets. The embassy is equipped with a C-RAM defense system which destroyed the rockets in mid-flight.
The US embassy condemned the attack and said that it is a violation of international law. It requested the Iraqi government to take action to prevent such attacks in the future, and catch those responsible. Several other groups also condemned the attack on the US embassy. This includes former militant leader Moqtada al-Sadr and the Iraq’s Shia military group Kataeb Hezbollah.
