Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) has been placed on its highest level of operational readiness, known as State One Alert, amid growing regional tensions and reports of possible US military actions against Venezuela. This heightened alert level requires that all active soldiers, sailors, Coast Guard officers, and military personnel to report back to their bases immediately and remain on standby. The situation has been described as “no drill,” reflecting the seriousness of the preparations.

This state of heightened alert coincides with increasing US military presence in the Caribbean, particularly near Venezuela, driven by Washington’s campaign against alleged drug trafficking routes linked to the Venezuelan government. The TTDF’s alert follows reports of the US potentially preparing air and land strikes on Venezuelan military installations, although official US statements have denied immediate plans for an attack.
