Israel carried out strikes in Gaza after 6 rockets were fired into Southern Israel.

On Friday morning, IDF forces launched airstrikes in the Gaza strip targeting several structures believed to belong to Hamas, in response to 6 rockets fired from Gaza into Southern Israel. All rockets fell on open fields and noone was injured.

The IDF spokesman unit said, ‘The IDF takes all terrorist activity against Israeli territory very seriously and is prepared and ready to act as much as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli citizens and their sovereignty. The terrorist organization Hamas bears responsibility for what is happening in and out of the Gaza strip, and will bear consequences of terrorist acts against Israeli citizens.’

Recently, Gaza has been firing several rockets into Israel, in an ever escalating situation. The group Hamas has been reportedly sending balloons filled with incendiaries causing environmental and property damage.

The group Hamas is under intense international pressure from Qatar, Egypt, United Nations and the Gazan public to halt attacks on Southern Israel. The Gazan public have beens suffering from shortages and a change in daily life. Gazan powerstation is only supplying 4 hours of electricity a day to the public due to fuel imports ban by Israel.

The Gaza fishing zone has been affected and has been closed on 16th August by Israel. More than half of the Gazan population are poor and 60% of the Gazan people are unemployed.

The rockets were fired after Israel carried out an airstrike in response to balloons filled with incendiaries and explosives.

Israel targeted several underground infrastructures and military sites of Hamas using both military aircraft and tanks.

Recently, Israel imposed a blockade of imports except food and medicine into Gaza as a punishment for their repeated launches of rockets and incendiary balloons. Read more about this here:
