A 7.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Vanuatu.

Minutes ago, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 7.1-magnitude earthquake near Luganville, Sanma, Vanuatu at a depth of 83.8km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.

The strong earthquake was most likely felt by a lot of people close to the epicenter. Towns or cities that felt the earthquake include Port-Olry, Luganville, Sola Norsup and Port Vila located 19, 70, 135, 135 and 345km respectively. More details to follow.
