Israeli navy opens fire on an unidentified target in Gulf of Aqaba.

An Israeli navy ship fired towards an unknown target in the Gulf of Aqaba. The suspicious target was a few hundred metres from beachgoers close to the Southern Israeli city of Eilat.

The Israeli navy later released a statement where they said that the suspicious target was shot at and it does not pose any danger. The object was discovered by chance during a routine naval activity in the Red Sea.

After clearing the area together with the naval police, the suspicious item was shot at.

Footage of the Israeli navy vessel close to the beach was being shared online. Israeli mavy vessels often shoot at suspicious objects further out in the sea, but such an incident closer to the coast is rare. More details to follow.
