Explosion at Area Auto Salvage in Illinois injures one.

On Friday morning an explosion rocked Area Auto Salvage in Old Route 36, rural Morgan County. The Fire departments were called in from Jacksonville, Alexander, and New Berlin at around 11am after a huge fire started spreading after the explosion. One man was injured in the explosion and was rushed to the hospital. He was evacuated by an AirEvac helicopter. There is no information regarding his injuries.
Jacksonville Fire Department Captain Matt Sommers said that the fire that ensued after the explosion had spread to a huge scrap pile containing rubber and metal shavings causing a huge fire. Based on a report, the explosion seem to have occured when workers were in the process of cutting a decommissioned propane tank. No firefighters were injured while extinguishing the flames.
