A very strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Indian Ocean, 193 km southwest of Jakarta, Indonesia at a depth of 37.2km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.
The strong earthquake was felt by many people located close to the epicenter. People as far as 200km felt the earthquake as a light shaking for several seconds.
