Moments ago a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Philippine Sea, 35 km east of Masbate, Bicol, Philippines at a shallow depth of 10km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
The earthquake was felt as moderate shaking in Uson (pop. 4,400) located 20 km from the epicenter, Masbate (pop. 47,500) 35 km away, and Bulan (pop. 28,500) 40 km away.
In Irosin (pop. 20,700) located 43 km from the epicenter, Sorsogon (pop. 82,700) 73 km away, Calbayog City (pop. 67,900) 77 km away, Catarman (pop. 47,400) 78 km away, and Legazpi (pop. 179,500) 94 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
