5.6-magnitude earthquake in Montenegro.

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck 28 km northwest of Nikšić, Opština Nikšić, Montenegro 3.06am local time at a shallow depth of 10km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

The earthquake was felt over a large region. In Nikšić (pop. 58,200) located 30 km from the epicenter, Trebinje (pop. 33,200) 35 km away, Podgorica (pop. 236,900) 75 km away, and Mostar (pop. 104,500) 82 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Bijelo Polje (pop. 15,400) located 90 km from the epicenter, and Sarajevo (pop. 696,700) 104 km away.
