A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck 34km southeast of Puerto Escondido, Mexico, just minutes ago on February 23, 2026, at approximately 10:38 PM CET (late evening local time). The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reports the epicenter at 17.306°N, 101.338°W, with a shallow depth of just 3 km—amplifying ground shaking potential.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties, but Guerrero’s seismic hotspot status (home to the deadly 2017 7.1 quake) warrants monitoring. Tremors likely felt in Acapulco and nearby coasts amid ongoing aftershocks from January’s 6.5 event that killed two.
