On Sunday, Azerbaijan downed an Armenian SU-25 jet, while it was about to launch an airstrike on Azerbaijani positions in Jabrayll region. The jet was downed by an Azerbaijani S-300 missile defence system. It was destroyed around 12.30pm.

On Saturday morning, another SU-25 fighter jet was downed by Azerbaijani forces, while it was attempting to launch attacks on the same region of Jabrayll. The Turkish Defense Minister congratulated Azerbaijan by phone over the downing of the Armenian jets.

A ceasefire between the two countries started again in Saturday, after the previous ceasefire brokered by Russia failed after both countries launched several attacks.

The two countries have been in state of war over the Nagorno-Karabakh region since 1991, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The OSCE Minsk Group, which is chaired by United States, Russia and France attempted to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. So far, they have not been successful.
