On Monday, a convoy of Syrian soldiers were attacked in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzor near the border with Iraq.

It is believed that 26 Syrian soldiers died in the attack. It is considered to be ‘ largest death toll since the start of the year’. The Syrian soldiers that were stationed in Deir Ezzor were searching for lone wolves loyal to ISIS. Unfortunately, ISIS soldiers ambushed the Syrian soldiers resulting in a great loss for the Syrian army.

On the same day, the body of the director of Palymra, Khaled Assad, which was brutally murdered by ISIS back in 2015 was found. DNA tests will be carried out to confirm his identity.
