Italian Ambassador to Congo killed in an attack.

On Monday, the Italian Ambassador, Luca Attanasio, to DR Congo has been killed in an attack on a United Nations (UN) convoy in Eastern city of Goma, Congo.
A number of unidentified attackers opened fire on a UN convoy, which also killed the driver and another official. The ambassador was en-route to the Eastern part of the country in a World Food Program (WFP) convoy.
The three fatalities have been identified as the Italian Ambassador to DRC, Luca Attanasio, an Italian embassy official, and a WFP driver.

Italy’s Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio abruptly left a meeting in Brussels upon hearing the news. The Foreign Minister posted on Facebook that he will do whatever possible to find more what happened in the attack.
The circumstances of this brutal attack are not yet known and no effort will be spared to shed light on what happened.

The attackers fled the scene after the attack, but the Congolese army said that its troops is searching the area to capture the attackers. Goma is an area known for the frequent violence. Around 100 rebel groups are active in the area.
