Italy’s Maneskin won the 65th Eurovision song contest in Roterdam Ahoy arena in front of 3,500 fans, after public voting led Italy to the first place. The Jury vote was secured by Switzerland, and they had a lead of around 50 points on the second place occupied by France.

This abruptly changed when public voting started. Italy which did not occupy the top 5 positions after the jury voting, received 318 points from the public vote putting the rock song above the jury winners Switzerland, France and Malta.

The winning band, Maneskin said ‘Rock and Roll never dies’, on the stage before performing their winning song Zitti E Buoni again. Their victory marks the first victory for a band since 2006. Italy will now host the Eurovision 2022 song contest. Italy won the Eurovision three times and previously hosted the Eurovision in Naples and Rome.
