Local authorities reported that on Tuesday morning at around 6am, an explosion struck the Dengfeng Power Group Aluminum Alloy Company plant in the village of Gaocheng township, Dengfeng, Central China’s Henan Province. Footage of the explosion showed a huge mushroom cloud as if a nuclear explosion occurred. People nearby described feeling like it was an earthquake and some thought that a missile struck the area.

Firefighters and ambulances rushed to the scene but luckily there were no casualties or any missing people. The explosion seem to have occured after flood water from the Yinghe river entered an alloy tank with a high temperature solution.

The river flooded the area after heavy raining the day before. The company immediately cut the power and evaluated all their stuff after the flooding hit the company.

More details to follow.
