Early Tuesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shelled Lebanon after they fired rockets at Northern Israel. In response, IDF started shelling at the source of launches. The rockets were most likely fired by a Palestinian group rather than the most powerful terror group Hezbollah.
The rockets fired from south Lebanon set off warning sirens in North Israel and the Iron Dome managed intercepted one of the two rockets fired. The other one landed in an open area near the coast. Lebanon’s rockets were fired four hours after Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes against targets in Aleppo, Syria.
The Israeli government holds the Lebanese government responsible for the rocket attack since it ‘allows terrorists to operate within its territory’. The Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz said Lebanon’s current crisis will not be allowed to turn into a security threat to Israel.
Israel will act against any threat to its sovereignty and its citizens, and will respond in accordance to its interests — at the relevant time and place…will not allow the social, political and economic crisis in Lebanon to turn into a security threat to Israel.
Defence Minister Benny Gantz
No casualties or injuries have been reported in either side. More details to follow.
