An hour ago the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a 5.6-magnitude in Mandalay Region, 41 km north of Shwebo, Sagaing Region, Myanmar (Burma) at a shallow depth of 10km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might revised later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.
Many people located close to the epicenter most likely felt the shaking. Even though it is not expected that it caused any significant damage, weak shaking was expected in Mandalay (pop. 1,208,100) located 104 km from the epicenter, Pyin Oo Lwin (pop. 117,300) 111 km away, Sagaing (pop. 78,700) 114 km away, and Monywa (pop. 182,000) 119 km away.
