Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) reported that hours ago a 4.5-magnitude struck off Nemuro Penisula at a depth of 69.9km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.
Weak shaking was felt in several towns which include Nemuro (pop. 31,200) located 65 km from the epicenter.
