An hour ago the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck 53 km east of Antofagasta, Chile at a depth of 70.6km.

As is usual, the exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.

Towns or cities that might have felt a weak shaking include Antofagasta (pop. 309,800) located 51 km from the epicenter.
