A strong 6.2-magnitude strikes Atacama, Chile.

Minutes ago the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the South Pacific Ocean, 112 km west of Copiapo, Atacama, Chile at a shallow depth of 10km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.
Several towns or cities most likely felt the strong quake. It is not yet known how whether there was significant damage. Towns or cities that might have felt a moderate shaking include Copiap and Vallenar located 112 and 116km from the epicenter respectively.
