Moments ago the International Space Station’s crew were told to hide due to space debris. The Russian ground control told their Russian crew to hide inside the Soyuz spacecraft, while the Americans told their crew to hide in the US segment.
The space debris was from a destroyed satellite. This comes days after the ISS had to maneuver to avoid a collision with a part of a Chinese satellite that was destroyed by a weapon test back in 2007. The crew last Wednesday had two days time to maneuver the ISS, but today they did not have enough time, and for this reason they were required to go to their quarters for a possible evacuation from the ISS.
