Moments ago the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that a 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck 247 km southeast of Antofagasta, Chile at a depth of 105km.
Since the earthquake has just occurred, the exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.
So far there have been no reports of any significant damage to the infrastructure. Several towns or cities close to the epicenter felt a weak shaking. These include Taltal, Diego De Almagro, Antofagasta, Copiapo and Calama. More details to follow.
