A 4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes Southern Peru.

Minutes ago a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck 47 km south of Coracora, Provincia de Parinacochas, Ayacucho, Peru at a depth of 105km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports.

The earthquake wss most likely felt in Chaipi (pop. 130) located 8 km from the epicenter, Coracora (pop. 7,400) 47 km away, Tambo (pop. 5,000) 71 km away, and Acari (pop. 4,400) 77 km away. In Puquio (pop. 10,500, 86 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
