French multirole frigate FS Auvergne is currently in Odessa. It docked in Odessa’s port yesterday in a sign of support to Ukraine during recent tensions with Russia. Upon arrival, it invited the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Oleksiy Neizhpapa, to be the first person to step aboard the French ship.
The frigate entered the Black Sea on December 14th and will stay in Odessa till Tuesday. The frigate has joined the French navy in 2018 and is one of the most advanced among the French fleet.
According to a monitoring system, this ship is the 31st entry of a NATO ship in the Black Sea this year, around the same number in 2014, after the Russian forces occupied Crimea. More details to follow.
