A large number of Russian warships and landing ships are currently advancing towards South of Odessa, Ukraine for a possible landing. There are nine warships or destroyers and five landing ships approaching the coast.

Russian forces were expected for an amphibious landing in Odessa a week ago, but due to bad weather the operation was delayed. Odessa is the third-largest city in Ukraine and is considered of strategic value for Russia since its capture will cut off Ukraine from accessing the Black Sea.

The Russians Ropucha-class landing ships that have been spotted have the ability to come very close to the shore. These can carry around 10 combat-ready tanks and 12 infantry-fighting vehicles with scores of troops.
