A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck in the South Pacific Ocean, 62 km west of La Serena, Provincia de Elqui, Coquimbo Region, Chile at a depth of 37km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might still be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports, but it is unlikely.
Weak shaking was felt in Coquimbo, La Serena, Ovalle, Vicuña and Monte Patria. No significant damage is expected and no tsunami threat has been issued.
