Moments ago a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the South Pacific Ocean 107km northwest of La Serena, Provincia de Elqui, Coquimbo Region, Chile at a depth of 20km.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might still be changed again later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their own reports, but it is unlikely.
The earthquake was most likely felt as weak shaking in Coquimbo, La Serena, Ovalle, Vallenar and Copiapo.
