According to a spokeswoman for the Central Franconia Police Headquarters, several fires broke out in the southern part of Altdorf (near Nuremberg) between the motorway and Pfaffentalstrasse. Firefighters were called to the scene, where they found a house, shed and a trailer on fire.

Soon after the firefighters took a man from one of the buildings outside, he pulled out a firearm and aimed it at the firefighters. The latter withdrew from the man and contacted the special forces. The gunman fled the area and is suspected to be hiding in the forest.
