Damage reported in Miyazaki and Kagoshima, Japan after the significant earthquake; tsunami hit several coastal cities.

According to the Kirishima City Fire Department, two people, an elderly woman and a factory worker, also a woman, were taken to hospital. The quake in the area had a seismic intensity of 5 or lower. The elderly woman hit her head during the earthquake, while the factory worker injured her back after an object fell on her. They were taken to a hospital in Kirishima City but they do not have life-threating injuries.
According to the Nichinan Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture the seismic intensity of the earthquake here was 6, and so far there have been no reports of major damage to infrastructure. The only reports received in this prefecture are damaged power lines and traffic lights. There have also been reports of falling rocks.
In the town of Osaki in Kagoshima Prefecture, where the seismic intensity was 5+, a two floor wooden house located near a town hall has collapsed. No injuries were reported.

The shaking was quite violent and continued for about 30 seconds, and items on desks fell to the floor. We received a report from inside the airport building that the windows were broken, and we are currently on our way to check.

According to an office staff member at Prefectural Nichinan Hospital in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, the hospital avoided serious damage. According to the police in the cities of Kagoshima, Kanoya, Tarumizu, Soo, Kirishima, Aira, Higashikushira, and Kimotsuki in Kagoshima Prefecture where the seismic intensity was 5, no reports of damage was reported.
The expected height of the tsunami was 1 metre. Based on reports the waves arrived in this order and height: A 50-centimeter tsunami reached Miyazaki Port in Miyazaki City at 5:14 p.m., where a tsunami warning has been issued. Also, a 40-centimeter tsunami reached Abutsu in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture at 5:23 p.m. ▽ A 30-centimeter tsunami reached Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture at 5:46 p.m., ▽ Shibushi Port, Kagoshima Prefecture at 5:25 p.m., ▽ Minami Osumi Town, Kagoshima Prefecture at 5:48 p.m., ▽ Tanegashima and Kumano, Kagoshima Prefecture at 6:23 p.m., all of which were 20 centimeters. ▽ Hososhima Port, Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture at 5:13 p.m., ▽ Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture at 5:42 p.m., both of which were 10 centimeters. ▽
