India reports nearly 20,000 new cases for the second day in a row.

India reported 19,459 cases in the last 24 hours. India is struggling to deal with the surge of daily new cases. The speed at which the virus is spreading, is posing a threat to India’s fragile health system. In response to shortage of beds, India opened one of the largest hospitals last Saturday.
The western state of Maharashtra which is one of the worst hit state in India, will extend its lockdown until till the end of July.In the city of Mumbai, there was a massive traffic jam due to new travel restrictions. These restrictions will force residents to visit salons, markets and parks that are within 2 km of their house.
India ranks third after US and Brazil in the total number of cases. Around 16,000 deaths were reported since the beginning of the pandemic.
