Latin America and Caribbean surpass Europe in total number of cases

The Caribbean and Latin America has now surpassed Europe in the total number of cases. The number infected stands at 2.7 million. It is being driven mostly by Brazil, the second worst hit country in the world. Other countries like Peru, Chile and Colombia also suffered from outbreaks.
Jair Bolsonaro, President of Brazil, signed a new law that forces people to wear masks in public, but he refused to accept a paragraph requiring people to wear masks in commercial and educational building and churches. Bolsonaro vetoed that paragraph. He decided to veto the issuing of fines to people who violate the rules and issuing of masks to the vulnerable.
