The Al-Taji military air base located North of Baghdad, and housing US forces has been attacked by rockets on Monday night. This comes after a similar attack the previous week, when Katyusha rockets hit Besmaya base on Friday.

Captain Ahmed Khalaf told Anadolu agency that the base was targeted by four Katyusha rockets and only physical damage was inflicted.

‘Initial information indicates that the missile attack left only physical damages.’

No group claimed responsibility so far, but the US suspects that Iran-backed militias were behind the attack.

These attacks came before US and Iraq strategic talks regarding US forces. United States has 5,200 troops in Iraq assisting Iraqi forces in its fight against ISIS.
