Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon reported that a major incident was reported on Wednesday. It involved a train derailment. The Stonehaven train derailed and caught fire. Around 30 ambulances and an air ambulance are at the scene.
The Scottish Minister said, ‘This is an extremely serious incident.’
‘I’ve had an initial report from Network Rail and the emergency services and am being kept updates. All my thoughts are with those involved,’ she added.
The reports of the derailment came in after 9.40am. The incident occurred 15km south of Aberdeen. Three have died, which includes one of the train company’s conductors.
It is thought that flooding was the reason behind the derailment, but authorities still have to confirm this.
