On Sunday, Greece and Israel signed a record deal on the procurement of military equipment, worth $1.65 billion. It is a sign of increased political and economic ties between both countries. Last year, both countries signed a pipeline deal, and Greece was hiring Israeli drones.
The deal would see Hellenic Air Force receive 10 M-346 aircraft and a creation of a flight training center in Kalamata, Peloponnese. Israel will also provide training and logistical support in the 20-year deal. Israel will also supply kits to upgrade Greek’s T-6 aircraft.
I am certain that (this program) will upgrade the capabilities and strengthen the economies of Israel and Greece and thus the partnership between our two countries will deepen on the defense, economic and political levels.
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz
This announcement follows another meeting that was held in Cyprus between UAE, Israel, Greece and Cyprus. They agreed in the meeting to increase cooperation between them.
