Ten minutes ago, USGS reported a 3.5-magnitude earthquake 38 miles east of Bakersfield, Kern County, California, USA at a shallow depth of 4.4km. The nearest volcano is 76km away.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might revised in the next hours or minutes as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.

Towns or cities that might have felt a weak shaking include Squirrel Mountain Valley (pop: 547), 12km away from the epicenter, Weldon (pop: 2,640), 18km away, Alta Sierra (Kern County) (pop: 7,050) 29km away, Arvin (pop: 20,900) 54km away.
