An hour ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck the North Pacific Ocean, 51 km south of Shizunai-furukawachō, Japan at a depth of 63.1km. It was reported first by Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
As is usual, The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might revised later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities that might have felt a weak shaking include Shizunai-furukawachō (pop. 22,400) located 51 km from the epicenter, and Tomakomai (pop. 174,800) 112 km away.
