Three people have been killed and 30 injured in a massive blaze that engulfed a Bangladesh factory Rupganj, an industrial town outside Dhaka, about 5:00 pm Thursday (1100 GMT). On Friday morning, the fire was still not extinguished. Thick black smoke was seen emanating from the top floors of the factory.

Local witnesses reported people jumping from the upper floors of the six-storey Hashem Food and Beverage factory to evade the fire. Around 25 people have been saved, but there are still workers trapped inside.

Once the fire is under control, we will conduct a search and rescue operation inside. Then we can confirm any further casualties, if any.

He said that dozens of people might still be trapped in the factory.

On the third floor, gates on both stairwells were closed. Other colleagues are saying there were 48 people inside. I don’t know what happened to them,

Update: 52 died in the factory fire as workers have been locked inside.
