Huge fuel tank explosion in Lebanon.

On Sunday, at least 28 people lost their lives after a fuel tank exploded in the northern region of Akkar in Lebanon. The Red Cross said that 79 people have been injured in the accident. Most of the injured are in serious condition. Hospitals are not well equipped and some had to turn away most of the victims becayse they dont has the capability to treat severe burns.The country is facing a fuel shortage among other things as the country’s economy is in shambles.

The fuel tank was confiscated by the army from the town of Tleil. The military was than about to give free gasoline to the residents when for some reason it exploded. The country is facing a fuel shortage among other things as the country’s economy is in shambles. Some said it was due to gunfire. There were around 200 people at the moment of explosion.
There was a rush of people, and arguments between some of them led to gunfire which hit the tank of gasoline and so it exploded.

Soldiers were among the casualties. The Al-Jadeed TV channel did not mention gunfire as the source of the explosion, but that it was due to a lighter that was ignited by an individual. One of the injured said that there were many people very close to the tank moments before it exploded.
