Explosion at the Pemex oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

On Sunday an explosion at an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico run by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) caused a fire killing one and injuring at least six people. The oil platform is located in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap oil field off the coast of Tabasco and Campeche. The injured were all airlifted and transported to hospitals in Campeche.

This oil platform forms part of the Ku Maloob Zaap complex. It is Pemex largest crude oil producer accounting for around 40% of the total company’s daily production of nearly 1.7million barrels.
