Thousands evacuated in Philippines after volcanic eruption.

On Saturday morning thousands of people were evacuated from their homes after the Taal Volcano which is located south of Manila erupted. The eruption seem to have happened after water in the main crater came into contact with the magma resulting in a white plume of steam and ash that went 1.5km up into the sky.
The strong steam-driven eruption was followed by a number of volcanic earthquakes. Philippine authorities have increased the alert level to three. The maximum alert level is five is only raised to this level when there is a life-threatening eruption.
