On Wednesday, the US submarine, USS Florida (SSGN-728) was seen entering the Bay of Gibraltar heading to dock in the port of Gibraltar,Basa Naval Gibraltar. It is not known how long it would stay there.

The submarine is an Ohio-class nuclear guided missile submarine. Its reason for its port stop is unknown. The environmental group Verdemar denounced the arrival of the nuclear submarine. Their spokesman, Antonio Munoz, said that damaged submarines regularly arrive in the Penon naval base for repairs. He said that the type of work on nuclear submarines endangers the whole population of Gibraltar.
